Carey Sherrell, 2nd Contestant Fired on The Apprentice

January 15th, 2007 in

BuddyTV January 15, 2007

Carey Sherrell became the second contestant voted off The Apprentice: Los Angeles last night. After a long and intense boardroom, Carey was fired by Mr. Trump for poor judgment regarding a swimsuit design. However, it seems as if Carey got the short end of the stick. Carey, in an exclusive interview, tells us what really happened.

Every Monday, look for another BuddyTV exclusive interview with the previous night’s fired Apprentice contestant.

How big a shock was it to learn about the losing team living in the tents, and how bad was it actually living out there?

Big shock. The people on the show are very successful, they’re six-figure people already. I, for one, have never been camping a day in my life. Camping to me is a nice cabin in the mountains - air conditioning, jacuzzi, cable TV. That, to me, is as rustic as it gets. So, when we got to the house and learned that we’d be living in tents - - not happy. For me, it’s very difficult to be in a tent, on a cot at night, in the cold, and wake up and try to shave and shower in cold water, use a port-a-potty. That’s really interesting. I don’t think most business people ever do that one day in their lives. How do you come back form that? Once you’re a loser, you’ll always be a loser, unless you can find a way to come back from it.

How big of a disadvantage was it for your team to compete against people who had been getting pampered inside the mansion?

The Apprentice: Safe Happens

June 8th, 2006 in

Hilarious video of alternate ending for the Apprentice finale. You need to watch this.

Best Week Ever ?Ǭª Blog Archive ?Ǭª The Apprentice: Safe Happens

The Apprentice: Safe Happens

The Apprentice is known for its unabashed use of product placement. Whether it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Burger King, Crest toothpaste or Trump Ice, the reality show never hesitates to do whatever it takes to make an extra buck. Last night when Sean won was no exception. Take a look.

Sean Yazbeck Wins The Apprentice

June 6th, 2006 in

Jamie Pressly says to Lee, “You better get your s*** together little Apprentice Boy” after he screws up the planning of a Hockey game. Was the winner any surprise to anyone? Lee was out of his league. Neither of them were impressive. This batch of wanna bes was to sorriest of any season. I really don’t care any more.

What was the outcome of the public voting? The Donald was surprised at how one sided it was, he said. If he was surprised, he’s an idiot. I’m sure Sean was the landslide winner, but I want to know the numbers. Were they THAT embarrassing to the little boy?

Maybe next season, I’ll care again. or maybe not.

Sean Yazbeck, a 33-year-old recruitment consultant from London who lives in South Beach, Fla., is Donald Trump’s latest Apprentice. Trump made the announcement at the end of the NBC reality show’s live finale Monday night.

Saying “Lee, you’re fired,” Trump sent away Lee Bienstock, a 22-year-old business analyst from Brooklyn, N.Y. Bienstock’s undoing was a disorganized celebrity hockey tournament he’d hosted to raise money for New York City firefighters.

Yazbeck, meanwhile, had set up a Barenaked Ladies concert to benefit the World Wildlife Fund.

Although this season of The Apprentice ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú its fifth ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú took place in New York City, the finale aired live from the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. The show’s sixth season will be filmed in L.A.

Asked what he’d learned from the show, Yazbeck told the Miami Herald, “Always go with your gut instinct. That’s the main thing I got from it.”

He also got a six-figure salary, a Pontiac G6 and a job in New York City with The Trump Organization.

Trump hires fans for finale

Donald Trump should be hanging his head in shame.

After boasting he hand-picked the contestants for The Apprentice 5, it has come down to British playboy Sean Yazbeck and absent-minded college grad Lee Bienstock in the finale.

While both hold impressive resumes, their often painful performances on the weekly tasks (does anyone remember their embarrassing X-box interactive display?) have left many fans questioning if Trump will fire them both.

That’s not likely, because admitting he failed would be worse than death for The Donald, so the master manipulator has instead devised a plan to make sure he won’t be blamed for hiring a dud.

In a departure from previous seasons, Trump is seeking input from fans on who he should hire.

By sending a text message or logging onto nbc.com/apprentice, viewers are invited to submit their votes and questions for Trump to ask the two during the final boardroom.

The results will be presented during the live finale in L.A. tonight before he chooses.

So who, pray tell, should we choose?

After last week’s episode, it’s a tough call between Bienstock, the 22-year-old who seems incapable of making a simple decision, and Yazbeck, the 33-year-old British player.

If Trump’s clever editing can be believed, Bienstock has made a complete mess of his final project — hosting a Pontiac celebrity hockey event benefiting the Denis Leary Fire Fighter Foundation.

He struggled to come up with ideas which were appealing to the executive, and when the head of the Foundation called him for an update, he answered the phone with, “Hey Liz. Whazzup?”

Things also looked bleak for Yazbeck, whose team is in charge of running a Barenaked Ladies concert in Atlantic City benefiting the World Wildlife Foundation.

While his meeting with the Wildlife executive went smoothly, he seemed more interested in romancing former Apprentice wannabe Tammy Trenta than planning the event.

Then, in the cliffhanger ending all fans expect from the finale — part one, he lost a teammate because she was coughing up blood.

Despite all this, Yazbeck will likely be named this season’s Apprentice. He’s charming, apparently smart and he’s the only reason Bienstock is still in the game.

The Apprentice 5 season finale, in which Michael J. Fox, Jaime Pressly, Denis Leary, Jason Priestley, Stephen Baldwin and the Barenaked Ladies appear, airs tonight at 9:30 p.m. on Global and 10:30 p.m. on NBC.

Donald Trump Is A Business Buffoon

April 4th, 2006 in

Trump was so wrong to fire Bryce last night. Is it better to fire someone who tried and failed or to fire someone who did nothing or very little to accomplish the goal. Life’s not fair and when you choose religion over accomplishing the task, then the task does not get accomplished. I’m a religous person and I would have taken the fall for my beliefs if my team lost.

Yes, they were late. Yes, their jingle wasn’t as good, but Bryce did an excellent job on this task. I’d say he was the best of the bunch.

Here’s what AdRants said about last night’s Apprentice. I want to point out the last line - “Bryce had the last word though in the Taxi with the classic line, “It wouldn’t hurt if Trump listened once in a while.”:

Adrants

On this week’s episode of The Apprentice, Donald Trump, with his usual “listen to me speak because I don’t give a s*it what you say” style, fired home builder Bryce, pretty much the most level-headed, well-grounded apprentice in the bunch. His team lost a challenge in which they had to develop a jingle for Arby’s new like or natural chicken sandwiches. While we’re not so sure why that’s such a differentiating factor since we’ve never met an unnatural chicken - except perhaps in a bucket of fried KFC, the Arby’s execs wanted to drive home the point their chain is the only place to get natural chicken. I wonder if they’s ever heard on Boston Market or any other restaurant that serves chicken. Now, if they mean organic, hormone-free chicken that isn’t slammed against a wall to kill it like PETA so loves to show us in its videos, that might be something to hang the “only” strategy on.

The only reason we digress so much about the “only” natural chicken thing is because Bryce’s team didn’t mention that in their jingle. Leaving something like that out - whether it means anything or not - doesn’t make a CMO very happy. It’s no surprise Bryce’s team lost. Whit is a surprise is how Bryce took a dysfunctional bunch of 20-somethings (except for Lenny) who were at each other throats last week and turned them into a functional business machine that worked together extremely well. One might think, loss aside, the team building management qualities Bryce displayed would be noticed by Trump but no. The boardroom turned into the usual scream fest with Trump bellowing out platitudes without listening to the details of the back story.

The Apprentice keeps it all in the family

Ivanka Trump joins in the firing as multinational combatants enter dad’s business battlefield.

Don’t let the pink tie fool you.

When the Donald Trump reality show The Apprentice returns for season five, it will have a new cast, a new night–Monday instead of Thursday–and a new set of gimmicks to keep viewers enticed. This season, Trump’s kids Ivanka and Don Jr. will guest star, filling in for Trump’s right- and left-hand people, Carolyn Kepcher and George Ross.

“It’s triple the Trump this season on The Apprentice,” said Donald Trump, star and executive producer of The Apprentice, in a statement. “I invited my children Don Jr. and Ivanka into the boardroom for several episodes this season, and they take the firings to a whole new level.”

This season’s cast members are being touted for their intellect and diversity. They include: Jose, “Pepi,” a Cuban-American attorney from a top law firm in Miami, Florida, and the first Hispanic to receive the distinction of being Florida College Student of the Year; Andrea, whose sticker and T-shirt company have made her a multimillionaire; Lenny, an Uzbekistani who spoke no English, but worked his way up from being a janitor to owning a successful medical trading company; and Theresa, a psychotherapist who owns a wellness center and is also a licensed real-estate agent to boot.

NBC is hoping the prospect of seeing Ivanka dole out some pink slips will breathe some life into the show’s ratings, as the fourth season was off 20 percent from the previous outings. The Apprentice season five premieres Monday, February 27, at 9 p.m.
