The Apprentice: Safe Happens

The Apprentice is known for its unabashed use of product placement. Whether it?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s Burger King, Crest toothpaste or Trump Ice, the reality show never hesitates to do whatever it takes to make an extra buck. Last night when Sean won was no exception. Take a look.

Sean Yazbeck Wins The Apprentice

Jamie Pressly says to Lee, “You better get your s*** together little Apprentice Boy” after he screws up the planning of a Hockey game. Was the winner any surprise to anyone? Lee was out of his league. Neither of them were impressive. This batch of wanna bes was to sorriest of any season. I really don’t care any more.

What was the outcome of the public voting? The Donald was surprised at how one sided it was, he said. If he was surprised, he’s an idiot. I’m sure Sean was the landslide winner, but I want to know the numbers. Were they THAT embarrassing to the little boy?

Maybe next season, I’ll care again. or maybe not.

Sean Yazbeck, a 33-year-old recruitment consultant from London who lives in South Beach, Fla., is Donald Trump’s latest Apprentice. Trump made the announcement at the end of the NBC reality show’s live finale Monday night.

Saying “Lee, you’re fired,” Trump sent away Lee Bienstock, a 22-year-old business analyst from Brooklyn, N.Y. Bienstock’s undoing was a disorganized celebrity hockey tournament he’d hosted to raise money for New York City firefighters.

Yazbeck, meanwhile, had set up a Barenaked Ladies concert to benefit the World Wildlife Fund.

Although this season of The Apprentice ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú its fifth ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú took place in New York City, the finale aired live from the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles. The show’s sixth season will be filmed in L.A.

Asked what he’d learned from the show, Yazbeck told the Miami Herald, “Always go with your gut instinct. That’s the main thing I got from it.”

He also got a six-figure salary, a Pontiac G6 and a job in New York City with The Trump Organization.

Trump hires fans for finale

Donald Trump should be hanging his head in shame.

After boasting he hand-picked the contestants for The Apprentice 5, it has come down to British playboy Sean Yazbeck and absent-minded college grad Lee Bienstock in the finale.

While both hold impressive resumes, their often painful performances on the weekly tasks (does anyone remember their embarrassing X-box interactive display?) have left many fans questioning if Trump will fire them both.

That’s not likely, because admitting he failed would be worse than death for The Donald, so the master manipulator has instead devised a plan to make sure he won’t be blamed for hiring a dud.

In a departure from previous seasons, Trump is seeking input from fans on who he should hire.

By sending a text message or logging onto nbc.com/apprentice, viewers are invited to submit their votes and questions for Trump to ask the two during the final boardroom.

The results will be presented during the live finale in L.A. tonight before he chooses.

So who, pray tell, should we choose?

After last week’s episode, it’s a tough call between Bienstock, the 22-year-old who seems incapable of making a simple decision, and Yazbeck, the 33-year-old British player.

If Trump’s clever editing can be believed, Bienstock has made a complete mess of his final project — hosting a Pontiac celebrity hockey event benefiting the Denis Leary Fire Fighter Foundation.

He struggled to come up with ideas which were appealing to the executive, and when the head of the Foundation called him for an update, he answered the phone with, “Hey Liz. Whazzup?”

Things also looked bleak for Yazbeck, whose team is in charge of running a Barenaked Ladies concert in Atlantic City benefiting the World Wildlife Foundation.

While his meeting with the Wildlife executive went smoothly, he seemed more interested in romancing former Apprentice wannabe Tammy Trenta than planning the event.

Then, in the cliffhanger ending all fans expect from the finale — part one, he lost a teammate because she was coughing up blood.

Despite all this, Yazbeck will likely be named this season’s Apprentice. He’s charming, apparently smart and he’s the only reason Bienstock is still in the game.

The Apprentice 5 season finale, in which Michael J. Fox, Jaime Pressly, Denis Leary, Jason Priestley, Stephen Baldwin and the Barenaked Ladies appear, airs tonight at 9:30 p.m. on Global and 10:30 p.m. on NBC.
